Premiered on June 4, 2005 at the Julia Morgan Theatre in Berkeley, California, Bembero Mudengu, a full length performance directed and choreographed by Chigamba, told the story of her life journey through traditional music and dance. Beginning with Chigamba's Shona upbringing in rural and urban Zimbabwe - with it's joys and hardships - through the challenges of coming to the United States, to creating bridges that bring people together, the story speaks to something in all of us.

The workshops and events were presented by Tawanda MuChinyakare and the Oakland Youth Chorus for Music Education. Made possible through a generous grant from the Creative Work Fund and through the work of many volunteers.
